Flambouyant Cuttlefish

The Flamboyant cuttlefish Metasepia pfefferi, is a native of the tropical Indo-Pacific, living on the Sandy and muddy beds of shallow seas. They are a small cuttlefish, growing up to 8cm. This small specimen was scarcely more than 2cm. Their flambouyant colour in an environment lacking in cover belies their highly poisonous nature, the flamboyant squid does not run when threatened. This little one was clear in expressing it's displeasure at our attentions.
